Most people avoid taking risks when they invest. They follow trends and never truly understand how the market works. This blog was created to document my investing journey, starting with $500. As a 15 year old high school sophomore, I will be sharing my research, decisions, and the lessons I learn as I gain real-world experience in the market.
Investing usually begins much later in life, but for me, my interest was sparked early on. In elementary school, I was exposed to the idea of investing by my dad. He helped me open an account and, under his guidance, I learned the basics: what a stock is, how to buy stocks, and how to follow market trends. Although I occasionally made trades, I was more focused on long-term investing. I even shared my knowledge with other kids and helped them open accounts under their parents guidance.
However, while I was exposed to investing early on, it was just an introduction. I wasn’t actively managing my portfolio and most of my investments were long-term, not requiring me to fully engage with the market.
Now as a high school sophomore, I’ve decided to return to investing with a more active approach.
Instead of just observing, I’m beginning this new journey with $500 and managing my investments through Fidelity Youth, an app designed for teen investors. I will be researching companies, taking risks, and making decisions by myself. I want to gain real-world exposure and understand why investments succeed or fail, not just analyze companies or follow trends.
The purpose of this project is not to invest x amount of money and gain y amount of profit, but to expose myself to the real world of investing and gain the experience needed to truly understand the market.
On this blog I will be sharing:
• The companies I research and why they stand out
• The stocks I choose to invest in and the reasoning behind my decisions
• Portfolio updates
• Risks, mistakes, and lessons learned along the way
Over time, this blog will reflect my growth, both in my understanding of investing and in the way I approach decisions.
Stay tuned to learn more about me and my investing journey.
